Fake Bake originated in the USA in 1995 and was the first self tan to combine naturally derived tanning agents DHA and Erythrulose - guaranteeing longer lasting (upto 50% longer), more natural looking results. The retail range was an instant success with beauty experts and celebrities alike.
Accolades and endorsements quickly followed. However what really triggered the Fake Bake phenomenon was when the range was voted No. 1 self tanner (tested against 22 other self tants) in the influential New York Times.
In 2001, salon owner Sandra McClumpha introduced Fake Bake to the UK, where she developed Fake Bake into a premium spa/salon treatment and convenient and flawless spray tan. Beauty Therapists were trained to exceptional high standards in the application of Fake Bake to ensure customers expectations were exceeded.
Fake Bake constantly strives to develop products meeting the requirements of ever more informed customers. Recent development made by our in house laboratories in the use of advanced botanical ingredients has enabled us to add a third tanning ingredient, DMI, to our formula which allows a faster developing and deeper tan resulting in a longer lasting and more even tan. Other developments have included the removal of Parabens and artificial preservatives from our products and the introduction of added skincare benefits like anti-ageing, anti-cellulite and anti-oxidants and also the introduction of products tailored for specific skin tones.
For the first time there is a totally safe tanning regime tailored to the individuals requirements. This perpetual investment in Research and Development means that Fake Bake will always be at the forefront of sunless tanning technology for years to come.
